Our Services

Compassionate Care

At Carestays, we recognise that every person with disability has their own needs, preferences, and goals. That’s why we provide personalised care and support designed to help each individual feel safe, comfortable, and respected.

Our dedicated team works closely with individuals and their families to develop tailored accommodation plans that reflect each person’s routine, support requirements, and personal choices. With a welcoming environment and thoughtfully designed spaces, Carestays aims to promote dignity, calm, and genuine rest—so both participants and their families can feel supported and reassured throughout their stay.

Carestays Respite Accommodation also offers a range of features that enhance wellbeing and comfort. Our sensory room provides a calming space with sensory tools and activities that support regulation, relaxation, and engagement. We also offer cosy pods—private, comfortable areas where residents can take a break, rest, or enjoy quiet or sensory time. These purpose-designed spaces help create a secure, supportive experience that is tailored to the individual.

Respite Services

Short-Term Respite Accommodation

Short-term respite accommodation offers individuals with disabilities a temporary stay away from their usual home environment. This service not only provides a break for the individuals but also allows family members and caregivers to rest, knowing that their loved ones are receiving attentive care and support. It is designed to be a refreshing change for all involved.

During these short-term stays, individuals can enjoy a safe and nurturing environment, complete with access to activities, personal care, and social opportunities. It’s a valuable chance for everyone to recharge while ensuring that essential support is always available.
Short Term Respite can be from one night to two weeks at a time or more if approved by the NDIA.

Urgent Respite Accommodation

Carestays may be able to assist with urgent respite under the NDIS when unexpected situations arise and a primary caregiver becomes temporarily unavailable. This type of support can help ensure continuity of care and provide short-term relief during challenging or unforeseen circumstances.

Urgent respite may be requested due to situations such as illness, injury, family emergencies, or a sudden change in care arrangements. Where capacity allows, Carestays can support the individual to continue receiving appropriate care while caregivers take time to rest, recover, or manage urgent matters.

If you are already registered as a respite client with Carestays, urgent respite may be available with a simple phone call, subject to availability and required approvals.

For new clients, once the necessary documentation is provided, we can work with you to confirm suitability and timeframes as quickly as possible—often within a few business days to a week—depending on capacity and support requirements.

Home and Living

Medium Term Accommodation

Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) under the NDIS provides temporary housing support for individuals with disabilities while waiting for their long-tern housing arrangements to be finalised. This can include situations where individuals are waiting for home modifications to be completed or they are waiting for a vacancy in Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA).

To be eligible for MTA, participants must have a confirmed long-tern housing plan provided in conjunction with other NDIS supports. While the NDIS generally funds MTA for up to 90 days, extensions are possible if there is confirmation that the long-term housing will be available soon.

Carestays matches NDIS participants with MTA options by considering individual needs and providing assistance with daily activities, personal care and community access, ensuring a comprehensive support system during the accommodation period.

Supported Independent Living (SIL)

Supported Independent Living (SIL) empowers individuals with disabilities to live independently while receiving tailored support to meet their unique needs.

Our dedicated team assists with daily activities such as cooking, cleaning, and personal care, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment.

SIL promotes autonomy and choice, enabling individuals to take control of their lives while fostering a sense of community and connection. By encouraging personal growth and skill development, we help individuals thrive and achieve their goals, enhancing their overall quality of life and instilling confidence in their abilities.

Community Access

Community Participation

Community participation is a vital aspect of Carestays supporting people with disabilities, as it involves helping participants to engage in social, recreational and community activities that foster independence, personal growth and social inclusion.

These activities provide opportunities for participation which helps to break down barriers, create opportunities and to ensure that people with disabilities feel valued and connected to their communities. Activities include examples such as visits to coffee shops and restaurants, art galleries, music festivals, beaches, national parks, botanical gardens, museums, local markets stalls, movies, etc.

Group Based Activities

Carestays provides NDIS funded group-based activities, which offer participants the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals to engage social skills, engage in capacity-building activities that promote independence in daily life and to build healthy and meaningful relationships. Group-based activities include a vast range of options such as gardening, swimming, art therapy, music appreciation, ten pin bowling, dance and movement classes, food preparation and cooking programs, etc.
